Sam Shem is an artist, educator and pastry chef.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and a Masters in Fine Art (MFA) from Goldsmith College, The University of London. During the past five years, Sam has been teaching as a Sessional Faculty at Emily Carr Institute. He also travels as a representative on behalf of the Institute reviewing portfolios of potential applicants across North America.
Sam also graduated, at the top of his class, from Vancouver Community College's Baking and Pastry Arts program. His experience in pastry includes work for the Four Seasons, Canvas Lounge and stages at Pangaea, Bishop's, Senses and Diva at the Metropolitan in Vancouver.
Sam is the author of Sweet Pleasure : Plaisir Sucré, a blog devoted to all things sweet: desserts, pastries, confections, etc. One of Sam's recent projects includes: the Vancouver Pastry, Art and Design Association , which includes a series of talks by pastry professionals from across North America, which started in September of 2007.
